Rightworks hosted its annual Inspire Conference Thursday November 30th 2023 at the Ritz-Carlton Sarasota with an audience of hundreds of CPA professional partners and owners from Rootworks members and RightNetworks clients from across the country. First, the Good News. Firms are worth a range of values and more options exist than ever before. A few factors/drivers determine if your business is worth a premium valuation if you exit to strategic buyer or investor.
But, the bad Ugly News. Every owner exits their business, but not every exit is planned. Because the majority of owners do not have a plan to transfer the business more than 80% are dissatisfied by the outcome. And less than 1% of owners create wealth from their transfer of the business because they fail to put a plan in place.
